The plastic sampling templates for the analysis of surfaces are sterile and disposable and must therefore be replaced at every sampling.
The choice to propose plastic disposable square sampling templates and not made of metal or other materials, which can be disinfected and reused, is designed for users who wish to ensure that the disinfection procedures of this accessory do not affect the sampling results, in order to ensure that the activity is carried out correctly. For example, if the sampling template has not been disinfected in the right way (inadequate contact time between disinfectant and the sampling template), there is a risk of contamination of the area, or it may happen that the disinfectant solution used may spread over the area being sampled and thus distort the analysis results.
How to use the sampling template for surface analysis:
- Identify the area to be sampled
- Define sampling area by placing above the square sampling templates
- Perform sampling (using surface sampling swab, contact plates or sponges)
- Remove the square sampling templates from the area
In order not to distort the result of the analysis, the area within the inner perimeter of sampling template must only encounter the instrument used for sampling.
The square sampling template for flat surfaces make it easier to define the size of the area in which the microbial load is to be taken (using sampling swabs, contact plates or sponges) in order to determine the surfaces hygiene.
The square sampling templates allow the specialist who performs the microbiological sampling to determine the number of organisms per cm².
These sampling templates allow the bioburden testing (the population of viable microorganisms found in a product/environment prior to the disinfection or sterilization process) to be checked in critical areas such as, for example:
- Places where sterile drugs are exposed to the environment
- Clean rooms
- Food processing plants
Specifically, the square sampling template 10x10 cm is indicated for the detection of the microbial load during the environmental disinfection. This activity is usually carried out both before and after the intervention in order to be able to quantify the percentage of microorganisms destroyed thanks to the treatment.
